 "Love my little Makita!" 2010-06-01
By Mary E. Laudano (Call, TX United States)
I had purchased my husband the 14.4 set several years ago but it was a little large for me; to get the battery out is very difficult on 14.4 tools. (it's two wide to grip it)

So.... this was my Mother's Day gift. I love it. I guess the only thing that would make it better is if the drill had a regular chuck to use all drill bits not just the hex shank.

"Great drills, what's with the case?" 2010-05-30
By George Whittam
These little beauties are everything the others say they are. Incredibly small, powerful, and seemingly well built. Steel gear transmissions tell me they are not toys. I traded up my Ridgid R82007 drill which didn't have the torque I desired or the speed (the problem with a single speed transmission). I have to laugh when my buddy pulls out his 18V Dewalt impact drill that weighs 4x more to do the light duty work. Drilling hundreds of holes in drywall gets tedious and tiresome with a chunky beast like that.

I have to say that I was surprised when I opened the attractive (albeit cheap) case I was surprised to find the contents just lying in a heap. There is nothing in there, other than a single piece of dense foam with a few cut outs, to keep the drills securely in place. It's really strange for a kit this expensive. At least there is room in there to shove a boxes of bits and the adjustable speed chuck I also bought so I can still use my large set of non-hex drill bits, also purchased on Amazon. Still, it's pretty superficial and not at all a knock on the drills themselves, so I still give 5 stars.

"Great for Lighter Duty or For the Home Owner." 2010-05-08
By Shane Sullivan (Portland, OR.)
These little drills pack a punch. The impactor has plenty of power to drive 3" to 4" screws for quite a while before needing to be recharged. The drill has the ability to do the finer more detailed work were as the impactor might cause damage, or just be to much force. Also, the drill has two speeds-1 and 2, which is very nice for delicate work.

I'm a contractor and I have the big brothers (Makita 18volt Lithium Ion Impactor and drill) to this smaller set, and I've been using them nonstop for about 5 years or more. So, if that is any indication to how my new mini set will do then I look forward to many years of use out of these babies.

I use this set for light duties such as, electrical (setting boxes, screwing in switches, etc.), for getting into tight spaces like cabinets, and for small/hard places to get too. Also, I have used them for hanging drywall, framing, and I'm sure the list will keep going on for years to come.

 "love it" 2010-05-06
By Glon I. Rose
this is a great set I was worried about the batteries with it being refurbished, but they work great. I have driven 3" screws with both the impact driver and the drill with no problem. (wouldn't do a deck with it but, not what i bought these for.) I can throw them in my tool belt no problem. wish they had a belt clip. very comfortable and enough power for a lot of jobs. light comes in handy in tight spaces really happy with it overall

 "Handy Package" 2010-04-24
By Arthur J. Kriesen (NY)
These two tools work well as an alternative to my much larger and more powerful Porter Cable cordless drill. One negative, the high speed of the drill is a bit too slow for efficient drilling. I checked the speed with a tach. and it is turning at specification level, so the tool is not defective, it's just slow.
